As we move into June, it’s becoming the dreaded rainy season. With unpredictable weather, it can be hard to plan activities. Even at Hop Step Jump, we unfortunately had to cancel our yearly picnic due to the rain—the first time ever! All of us were disappointed, but instead of focusing on what we missed, let’s focus on something fun…
6月に入り、梅雨入りが近づいていますね。 天気予報がなかなか定まらなくて、予定を立てるのが難しいなぁと感じています。 Hop Step Jumpでも、雨のために毎年行なっていたピクニックを中止しました。本当に みんながっかりしたけど、過ぎたことではなく、楽しいことに目を向けて見ましょう！

雨の日の「レイニーフォート」チャレンジに挑戦してみよう！

When I was a child in Canada, there were many days we couldn’t go outside because of rain, snow, or just freezing cold weather. One thing my brother and I loved doing was building pillow forts or cardboard houses inside. We’d grab chairs, blankets, pillows, and boxes and build our own little hideouts. It was the perfect place to read books and stay cozy.
私が子供の頃カナダでは、雨や雪、凍えるような寒い天気の日は外に出られない日が多くありました。 弟と私が大好きだったのは、家の中で段ボールや枕でおうちを建てること。 私たちは椅子や毛布、枕、箱などを使って、自分たちだけの小さな秘密基地を作りました。 本を読んだり、くつろいだりするのに最高な場所でした。

Your Challenge:やってみよう！

Using what you have at home—chairs, pillows, blankets—build the best pillow fort you can (with parent supervision, of course!). Whether it’s a cozy cave or a giant castle, the goal is to get creative and have fun.
自宅にあるもの（椅子、枕、毛布）を使って、最高のピローフォート(隠れ家)を作る（もちろんおうちのひとが見ているところでね！）。 洞窟でもいいし、大きななお城でもいいし、クリエイティブで、楽しいことが大切！

Bonus English Ideas:英語も使ってみよう！

If you’d like to add some English practice to your fort, try these:
英語を取り入れられそうなら、やってみて！

•  Name your fort in English and make a sign
  英語で秘密基地の名前をつけて、看板を作る
  
• Create a list of “fort rules” in English (Examples: “No shoes allowed!” / “Must speak English inside!”)
  英語で「秘密基地のルール」のリストを作成してみよう（例:”No shoes allowed!”「土足禁止」/”Must speak English inside!”「基地の中では英語のみ！」）
